RIP DJ A.M...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Adam Goldstein a successful DJ from the states found dead in his apartment on Friday the 28th of August. Formally engaged to Nicole Richie, Goldstein survived a plane crash in september last year, but his addiction to drugs overcame him. DJ AM, dead at 36.

I am going to give you the last known interview with him.

Bo Bliz: Describe the transition from DJ to DJ/club/owner/name brand...

AM: I have no idea how that happened, but it did, and I am not trying to take credit, or to stop it, but I know that if you put out good things, good things come back to you. I make the music, and have a voice but I also have a team of great people around me.

Christain Audesirk: How did your relationship between Dusk and Caesars come about?

AM: I've worked at Caesars in Vegas for 3 years so it seemed a natural fit to move to the one in AC as well.

CA: How do you feel about the AC nightlife scene?

AM: It's just beginning to really take place. The recession is already slowing a lot down everywhere and adding to the speed of AC becoming to Philly and NY what Vegas is to LA. But it is going to happen. It’s just a matter of time. I am incredibly excited to be involved in the evolution with Dusk at Caesars. From the design to the music, Dusk is in a league of its own and once you spend an hour there you will know why.

CA: What was your experience like working with Travis Barker on "Fix Your Face?"

AM: So much fun. I love Travis and I have always loved beats. To see what an amazing drummer brings to the beats I love is so exciting.

CA: Talk to me a little bit about Deckstar, how’s that project coming along?

AM: Deckstar is a brand, but it’s also a DJ Management company that I am part of. In addition to representing me, Deckstar represents some of the biggest and most legendary DJ’s in the world. Deckstar as a management company provides a service to all the DJs represented there, giving guidance and structure to its clients to help them maintain longevity in a business that is very fickle. They handle all the bookings, touring and travel logistics, branding, marketing opportunities as well as press and promotion. They don’t just take anyone, you have to be great, owning your own style, knowing what your goals are and where you want to take your music to when it comes to the next level.

Bo Bliz: What has your connection to Philadelphia been since you moved from here?

AM: I have always stayed in touch with my Sister who still lives there and I get back there at lease every 2 months just to take a walk and remember my childhood. I love that city. Damn, bout to start crying! I am a mush ball when it comes to Philly!

CA: Being a born Philadelphia kid, what you do miss most about Philly and its style?

AM: The food, the people, and the over all energy that you can actually smell and see on the streets. Philly has more flavor and character then anywhere in the world I have ever been, other then Prague

BB: What was your reaction to the support you received at DJ Day here in Philadelphia?

AM: I was totally speechless. When Jazzy Jeff showed me the pics I was floored. I had NO idea half of these legends knew who I was, let alone how I DJed and supported me. It was like winning an Oscar.

BB: What is the vibe of your weekly in LA, Banana Split?

AM: HOUSE PARTY!

BB: When was your progression from records to serato etc., and how did that transition effect your dj'ing?

AM: It made me speed up a lot in terms of the tempo I play at. And it made me be braver with song selection. I don’t have to "find" that rare RECORD anymore, just the mp3, then I can play it!

BDO Rumours...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Every year the Big Day Out Festival somehow manages to bring the biggest and best acts from all around the globe. This coming year has no exceptions, with rumours that Blink 182 are confirmed as headliners. The band has already announced a North American 'reunion tour' so i'm sure the rumours have a good chance of being correct(also apparently working on their new album throughout the tour). I was also listening to an interview with Placebo a while ago, and they were talking about how they would be touring Australia in January 2010 with their new album 'Battle For The Sun'.

I'll just chuck up some tracks from both bands!

In 2009 it’s Tydi who’s come up trumps once again, taking the inthemix50 crown for a second successive year. Not one to let age stand in the way of success, Tydi has had a manic 12 months. Kicking off the year with a set at Australia’s first Sensation on NYE, Tydi has also kept busy touring with the big boys, including Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. We could stop there, but his list of achievements goes on. 2009 saw the Queenslander receive an invitation to play the mainstage at Trance Energy in Holland. Proving his skills are not merely confined to the DJing arena, 2009 was also the year Tydi released his eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Look Closer’ and the Ministry of Sound ‘Trance Nation’ mix CD, to much critical acclaim.

02. DIRTY SOUTH
01. THE PRESETS

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
We’re not overstating ourselves when we say that the past few years have been pretty gosh darn big for Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes. The all-conquering electro duo wiped the floor at the 2008 ARIAs, winning Album Of The Year, Best Video, Best Dance Release, Best Group and Producer Of The Year. They’ve sold out arena tours, sold about a billion copies of their album ‘Apocalypso’, and now been voted inthemix’s favourite live act!

QLD CLUBNIGHT

FRIDAYS @ FAMILY
Not content to take just the top spot, both Fridays and Saturdays have come out in front for Queenslanders this year. Fridays serves up the best in trance and hard dance, with superstar residents Tydi and Baby Gee, while Saturdays sees cutting edge house and electro on offer. The sunshine state is unquestionably spoilt for choice!

QLD FESTIVAL

SUMMAFIELDAYZE
Regardless of your opinion on the girl, you know that when your event is visited by Paris Hilton you’re onto something big. In 2009 the Gold Coast’s annual welcome to the new year, Summafieldayze, was the biggest on record, with Dutch masters Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten heading up the bill alongside electronica legends Underworld. Wait For Me - Moby

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This man (MOBY) is such an amazing producer. The album that first of all got me too far into his music was PLAY, which incredibly every track off the album was signed to some kind of movie, Tv show or commercials. His latest piece of work WAIT FOR ME is another master piece released in stores on June 29th. Apparently the album was recorded in his small bedroom studio, giving it a more 'personal' feel and approach. Although i'm not sharing a copy, i will share a very nice instrumental with a crazy vid directed by David Lynch.

Moby - Shot In The Back Of The Head

Another great track is 'Pale Horses', which is also remixed by Gui Borrato

BUY A COPY!!!

Tracklist;

1. "Division" – 1:56
2. "Pale Horses" – 3:37
3. "Shot in the Back of the Head" – 3:15
4. "Study War" – 4:18
5. "Walk with Me" – 4:01
6. "Stock Radio" – 0:45
7. "Mistake" – 3:47
8. "Scream Pilots" – 2:48
9. "jltf 1" – 1:27
10. "jltf" – 4:40
11. "A Seated Night" – 3:23
12. "Wait for Me" – 4:13
13. "Hope Is Gone" – 3:30
14. "Ghost Return" – 2:38
15. "Slow Light" – 4:00
16. "Isolate" – 3:28
