ICE CREAM MONDAY#5! Double episode!

Episode one: The Paddle Pop dilemma

After what could only be described as an “awesome and at the same time, intimidat-ing-ly drunken” afternoon on the LNA boat cruise. Last weeks episode settled gently into the background of a reasonably average Monday…

Missed, but not forgotten.

So here we go, back on the back of the Mr Whippy van after yet another hurdle passed.

So the Paddle Pop dilemma… what is it… where exactly did it come from?

Dated back to 1953 – the paddle pop is most definitely one of the most well know ‘stick-mounted’ frozen confectionaries in Australia and of its many experimental phases including Choc-Mint, Bubble gum and coffee there has been one that has maintained its position as ‘the abso-fucking-lutely best flavour ever’

CHOCOLATE

So that’s great – everyone’s happy, great ice cream, many delighted kids and parents cursing the chocolate face mask + gloves that inevitably followed after a hot day in the sun…..

Then, this other dude comes along, with a catchy new feel and strangely unrelated co-promotions (the most current of which is “Builders Sticks” – this wacky plastic stick that is probably designed to be a caravan park alternative to lego or something like that)

So the differences aside from that –

Paddle pop – pretty good, everything you’d expect from a chocolate streets ice cream, nice muted flavour, good but not great attitude – appealing to almost everyone across one of the widest ranges of “what mood your in”.

Then Billabong – suffice to say this tastes like a frozen YoGo – you’d think that would be rad. But as my experience has found, YoGo aren’t as good as I remembered them to be.

I’m a Paddle Pop kid – after all its got the “school canteen tick”… its gotta be good right?

<3 Peace love and double scoops! <3
